The illusion of permanence
Hey!
Let's reflect together about the concept of “change”.
Tell me one object that stays the same from one moment to the next.
Our bodies?
Wintertime?
A feeling of joy?
A feeling of sadness?
Our life experience could be called the "game of change."
When we are relaxed, we can play with ease.
When we are tense, we suffer.
Even under difficult circumstances, we can “play better” when we can practice to be a bit relaxed and open to the happening of life.
Sometimes we resist change.
We think we have the right to keep ”things” the way we are.
When change occurs, we complain.
Wait a minute, we say, I used to remember many things. Now “I don't”.
We are surprised when the car that was running perfectly yesterday, breaks down today. We say: but why now?! The car was in perfect condition yesterday.
When we stop clinging to every "thing," we can enjoy things in life as they are.
Why?
Because things change constantly.
That “thing” that we want to hold on to is different from one moment to the next.
Absolutely every "thing" changes.
Only our essence, that is not a thing, does not change!
Time for reflection! Ready?
Do you see some “things” in life as really “stable” or not being so much affected by change?
Sometimes the changes are subtle. We do not necessarily notice them.
Do you cling to the idea of having a right to the “stability of things”?
Does the attachment to that “thing” provide a feeling of security and freedom?
Can we keep those objects we hold on to by being emotionally attached to them?
Does attachment bring the object closer to us?
Does the “resistance to change” create a feeling of expansion in the being?
What are we actually apprehensive about when we cling to a status quo of life circumstances?
How could we release some of the attachment to objects?
Let us reflect today about the aspect of “change”.
Maybe we find a feeling of freedom in the letting go of some of the resistance to change.
Have a good day!
